There are no Congressional hearings scheduled this There are no Congressional hearings scheduled this week, but the House is set to return on Wednesday, Nov. 12, and vote on a funding bill that could reopen the government. 

DOI’s Bureau of Indian Affairs series of consultations on Secretarial Order 3443, which concerns elevating and unifying DOI’s Wildland Fire Management Program, has started. The remaining sessions are scheduled Nov. 13 – 19. **Note, there is a venue change for the Albuquerque, NM session on Nov. 13. **

Tribal Nations and Alaska Native Corporations still have time to submit written consultation comments on the proposed USDA departmental reorganization through Nov. 15 at tribal.relations@usda.gov.

IFAI participated as one of the exhibitors at the IFAI participated as one of the exhibitors at the Crystal Bridges multi-day Art & Wellness Festival on Sunday, November 2. 🎨 🖼 The festival was a blend of art, cultural, and wellness-focused activities and presentations from organizations local to Northwest Arkansas. IFAI engaged with attendees who were interested in food sovereignty and next-generation and beginning farmers.

🔸USDA will accept comments on the proposed departmental reorganization through Nov. 15.

🔸DOI’s Bureau of Indian Affairs scheduled two in-person and two virtual sessions in a series of consultations from Nov. 10-19, 2025, about Secretarial Order 3443, which concerns elevating and unifying DOI’s Wildland Fire Management Program. 

🔸IFAI has created an analysis regarding the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) Strategy Report.

🔸The Tribal Governance Guide webinar developed by IFAI and W.K. Kellogg Foundation was hosted today. We will be putting out the recording soon, so don’t worry if you missed it!

🔸There are three Senate Committee meetings worth noting on Wednesday, Oct. 29, including a Senate Committee on Indian Affairs hearing about the impacts of government shutdowns and Agency reductions in force on Native communities.
