Jamie Black is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation from Salina, Oklahoma. Born and raised on the Cherokee reservation, she carries a deep connection to her community and heritage. Jamie moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to pursue higher education at the University of Arkansas, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Indigenous Studies in 2022.
Throughout her academic and professional journey, Jamie has remained committed to advancing Tribal sovereignty and uplifting Native American communities across the country. Her work reflects a strong dedication to advocacy, policy, and youth empowerment. As co-coordinator of the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative (IFAI) Youth Summit, Jamie has worked closely with Indigenous youth, helping to create spaces for leadership development, cultural engagement, and policy education.
Jamie continues to focus on initiatives that strengthen Tribal governance, support Indigenous self-determination, and foster opportunities for Native youth to thrive.
